Rawleigh Antiseptic Salve contains Turpentine and Liquefied Phenol combined in a base of Petrolatum, Paraffin and Cottonseed Oil. Both Turpentine and Phenol are traditionally used as antiseptic agents. Turpentine is used mainly as a topical remedy for various conditions. Topically it has been mostly used to disinfect and speed up the recovery of wounds and abrasions and as a treatment for lice. Internal administration of this substance is no longer common as it is considered be toxic.

Phenol has also been used for its antiseptic properties since 1834 when it was first extracted from coal tar. Back then, it was used mainly to disinfect wounds.*

One may use this product for superficial burns, scalds, blisters, boils, bruises, minor cuts and wounds, sunburn, chapped, chafed and irritated skin surfaces. *

Rawleigh Antiseptic Salve is essentially a drawing ointment and is therefore excellent for extracting dirt painlessly from cuts and abrasions. It’s soothing and lubricating properties make it perfect for superficial burns, scalds, bruises, cuts , wounds and sunburned skin.*

It also soothes hands that are cracked and neglected or feet that are swollen and sore.*
