Act on your thyroid with Actathroid - A pot of Actathroid comes with 60 capsules, a month’s supply at 2 capsules per day. It is a non-GMO formula for thyroid support. *
The thyroid gland is a butterfly shaped organ located at the base of the neck. It uses iodine from the food to release two main hormones – triiodothyronine(T3) and thyroxine (T4), that control metabolism, protein synthesis and regulating vital body functions. Imbalance of these hormones lead to several issues ranging from adrenal fatigue, lack of energy, anxiety, weight gain, goiter, rapid heart rate among others. *
Actathroid is packed with 150 mcg of iodine, B-12, 200 mg of magnesium, 300mg of L-tyrosine, selenium, 240mg of Schisandra, 200 mg of Ashwagandha and other natural herbs, and is designed to support your overall health with a strong focus on a healthy thyroid. *

Healthy Thyroid: Actathroid enhances thyroid function and helps prevent various thyroid disorders. Magnesium aids in making more T4 in the thyroid gland, and helps many of the thyroid enzymes that make thyroid hormones.*

Get help from kelp - The National Institutes of Health (NIH) say that seaweed such as kelp is one of the best natural food sources of iodine, an essential component in thyroid hormone production. A deficiency in iodine leads to metabolism disruption and can also lead to an enlargement of the thyroid gland known as goiter.*

Ashwagandha – an adaptogenic herb, has been used in Indian and Chinese medicine for centuries. It is a known to naturally support overall thyroid health, in particular hypothyroidism and hashimoto’s disease.*

Selenium – helps balance T4 in your hormones. Daily therapeutic doses of selenium have shown to benefit the thyroid function.*

B12 vitamins benefit thyroid health by balancing hormones naturally and treating chronic fatigue syndrome. Those on vegan/vegetarian diets are more likely to be deficient in B12 vitamins.*

L-Tyrosine in Actathroid helps make thyroid hormones that help restore hormonal balance. Supplementing with tyrosine is thought to increase levels of the neurotransmitters dopamine, adrenaline and norepinephrine.*

Regulates Blood Pressure: The active and natural ingredients in Actathroid can naturally regulate blood pressure. Additionally, it helps in lowering the blood pressure for people who are at risk or, dealing with hypertension.*

Helps in Protein Synthesis: Magnesium known for its effect on the thyroid is used for metabolism of body cells. Actathroid helps in optimal protein synthesis*

Ashwagandha, a small shrub with yellow flowers and a red fruit, is native to India, North Africa, and the Middle East where it has been used for centuries for medicinal purposes. The extract (the herb) is taken from the berries and the roots. Ashwagandha has been shown to support a sluggish thyroid for people diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease, and has been shown to improve the health of those with an overactive thyroid, or Grave’s disease, although the research on the herb’s effects on hyperthyroidism is limited.*

Some of the benefits of Ashwagandha include:

  • Reduces Stress and Anxiety - Ashwaghandha helps inhibit high level of cortisol, working almost like a tranquilizer helping relive stress.*
  • Alleviating arthritis pain - Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, it helps relieve pain mostly felt by patients of arthritis.*
  • Lowers Cholesterol - In one study, Ashwagandha was found to lower LDL cholesterol by 6%, and total cholesterol by 10% in 30 days. Because of its anti-clotting property it helps in overall protection of heart.*
  • Beauty benefits - It stimuluates DHEA and the production of natural skin oils. Many people use Ashwagandha as a toner with dried ginger and lemon. *
  • Reduces Liver Damage - It restores natural antioxidants in the body to help balance thyroid hormones for improved functioning of the liver. *

According to the NCBI - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4296437/ - the report of Ashwagandha elevating T4, along with its anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, anti-oxidant, and anti-depressant properties, suggest that it can be considered for treatment of sub-clinical hypothyroidism in mood disorders. Prospective controlled studies among patients with laboratory confirmed subclinical hypothyroidism (i.e. TSH and free T4 along with thyroid antibodies), and other risk factors may provide answers to whether Aswagandha extracts are more specifically beneficial in persons with unipolar or bipolar disorders with treatment resistant depression or rapid cycling.*

According to the NCBI - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14583417 - Short-term dietary supplementation with kelp significantly increases both basal and poststimulation thyrotropin [TSH – thyroid stimulating hormone]. In the study, TSH concentrations did not differ significantly between week 0 and week 4 in the placebo group (P = 0.16) but increased significantly in both the low-dose kelp (P = 0.04) and high-dose kelp (P = 0.002) groups. Free thyroxine concentrations decreased slightly but significantly after 4 weeks of placebo but were unchanged in the low-dose and the high-dose kelp groups. In contrast, total triiodothyronine levels did not differ significantly after 4 weeks of placebo or low-dose kelp therapy but were significantly decreased after high-dose kelp therapy (P = 0.04). Similarly, the thyrotropin-releasing hormone stimulation test showed no significant change in poststimulation TSH after 4 weeks in the placebo or low-dose kelp groups but revealed a significantly increased response after high-dose kelp therapy (P = 0.0002). The 24-hour urinary iodine excretion showed dose-dependent increases in the two kelp study groups. Basal metabolic rate did not change significantly in any study group during the 4-week study period. All thyroid laboratory values returned to baseline 2 weeks after cessation of kelp supplementation, except for TSH in the high-dose kelp group, which was significantly decreased.*

B12, a key component of Actathroid is essential to energy production in the body. It has, in some cases, shown reduction in tiredness and weakness that is associated with megaloblastic anemia. Megaloblastic Anemia occurs when there is insufficient oxygen being brought to cells to produce energy for the body which leads to poor DNA synthesis in red blood cell production. This consequently leads to a drop in hemoglobin levels in the blood. Megaloblastic anemia can occur when there is not enough vitamin B-12 or folic acid in the body. Vitamin B-12 is an important nutrient that one needs for overall good health. It helps the body convert food into glucose which gives one energy and vitality. It also improves certain medical conditions. In addition B12 provides health benefits such as:

  • Helps the body make new cells *
  • Supports red blood cell production and growth*
  • Aids in fighting free radicals and premature aging*
  • Helps the body regulate the nervous and digestive systems*
  • Aids in the conversion of food into energy *
  • Supports the natural production of hormones*
  • Helps the body fight infection *
  • Helps cells make and maintain DNA*

B12 acts as an effective analgesic which reduces clinical symptoms in legs such as severe burning sensations or spontaneous pains. It is also effective in alleviating lower back pain, especially in people with nutritional deficiencies. It is also effective for managing the pain caused by mouth ulcers.*

L-Tyrosine, an important amino acid, synthesizes proteins. Especially during intense stress, tyrosine is used to improve learning, memory and alertness. The amino acid metabolizes itself to produce neurotransmitters and is involved in producing catecholamines such as dopamine and adrenaline. In situations of cold stress and sleep deprivation, L-Tyrosine has proven beneficial as it brings in an anti-stress effect on the body. *

Selenium, Maintaining a physiological concentration of selenium is a prerequisite to prevent thyroid disease and preserve overall health. Supplementation with the organic form is more effective, and patients with autoimmune thyroiditis seem to have benefits in immunological mechanisms. Selenium supplementation proved to be clinically beneficial in patients with mild to moderate Graves' orbitopathy. Selenium supplementation in patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis and reduced intake of this micronutrient may be useful, even for those who are already being treated with levothyroxine, although further studies are needed to confirm this benefit.*
